Douglas Otstott
Currently a Master's student, Douglas began working at the VISA Research Lab during his last semester as an undergrad in FIU's Computer Science program. He graduated from the Bachelor's program in August 2011, receiving the department's prestigious "Outstanding Graduate" Award. This award is granted to at most one student a semester and reflects not only academic excellence but participation in the university's academic community. Douglas is an active member of FIU's local chapter of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and PLUG (Panther Linux User Group). He plans on completing his Master's Degree in April of 2012 and immediately beginning work on his PhD under his graduate adviser Dr. Ming Zhao and continuing his research on Caching and Cloud Scability.
Douglas is currently stationed in Marvell Semiconductor's Santa Clara office in California for the Summer of 2012. Here, he works diligently with project manager Wei Zhou to develop a Cache Specific SSD using his previous research on caching to optimize the relationship between the caching scheme and the cache device.
