DHS Scholarship
The Disaster Information Technology Lab at FIU seeks to hire highly qualified Computer Science PhD students to pursue computer science research in areas of high interest to the Department of Homeland Security, Science, and Technology Division. Topic areas include but are not limited to: cyber security, data fusion, data mining, on-demand/cloud computing, situational awareness, and visualization.
Our Disaster IT Lab collaborates with partners like the Purdue University/DHS (Department of Homeland Security) Science and Technology Center of Excellence partner Visual Analytics for Command, Control, and Interoperability Environments (VACCINE) and Miami-Dade County Emergency Management to provide researcher with real world challenges relevant to DHS science and technology mission and represent problems of meaningful societal concern. Scholarship awardees will benefit from job placement opportunities from our partner network and particularly be assisted on employment at a DHS-approved scientific or engineering venue.
We strongly encourage minority students to apply for this opportunity. You must be a US citizen or resident to qualify. Applicants should submit their CV and a one page description of their related research interests to Dr. Ming Zhao (ming@cis.fiu.edu).
